“Kawadelekala (the first wolf of Kingcome Inlet) was watching a robin in the early spring. As it was searching for its food it would sing ‘Dzawadzali,’ ‘Dzawadzali,’ in the valley which is now the Kingcome Inlet. From the song of the Robin came the name of the people of the Valley; we are known as the ‘Dzawadaenuxw people’. Also, for myself, the Robin painting represents a new beginning, a new time and a new place in my life.”
